WHAT WE DO

With over a decade of performances in Michigan’s Thumb Region, the Lapeer Symphony Orchestra is an integral part of the arts and culture of Lapeer and its surrounding communities. We are a multi-generational ensemble that welcomes all  instrumentalists interested in growing together as both musicians and friends. We provide a fun, casual environment for local musicians to gather, but because we thrive on the support of our neighbors, we are also deeply committed to fostering strong community ties by providing high-quality music of various genres to our audiences.

WHY WE DO IT

We love sharing the joy of making music with eachother and our audiences! More specifically, it is the mission of the Lapeer Symphony Orchestra to enhance the city of Lapeer and surrounding area by providing a performance outlet for local musicians and engaging with diverse audiences through the delivery of exceptional music.

WHO WE ARE

Our Music Director
Keith Corbett is in his ninth season as Conductor of the Lapeer Symphony Orchestra.  He received his Bachelor of Music Education from The University of Michigan-Flint and currently teaches music, band, choir, and theater arts at The Chatfield School here in Lapeer, MI.
Early on, Keith was privileged to study French Horn under Professor William Hoyt, at the University of Akron, in Akron, OH.  During his years there, he performed in many groups and ensembles, including the acclaimed University Symphonic Band, the Concert Band, Marching Band, a student brass quintet and a woodwind quintet.  This experience helped prepare him for the career in music he now enjoys.
Keith is now in his ninth year teaching music at the Chatfield School in Lapeer, where his classes include a beginner band, concert band,  symphonic  band, and general music for kindergarten through 4th grade.  Chatfield also has a successful musical theater class for which Keith is a co-teacher. His main goal as a teacher is to help students build a deep love of music, and it is his vision to share his passion for music by helping create a meaningful presence of the musical arts in Lapeer and its surrounding areas.
